Your trips stay yours.
This is the agreement between Reachwater and you when we carry trip requests to you. The short of it is that we introduce anglers and stay out of the way: the booking, the rate and the terms are yours, and we take no commission on the trip.
The short version
- We take no commission on your trips. An angler who reaches you through Reachwater is your client, on your rate, on your terms.
- We send you the request in the angler's own words, with what we know about the trip. What you do with it is yours to decide.
- You are independent. Not an employee, not an agent, and not bound to accept anything.
- Your listing was compiled from public sources. Claiming it lets you correct it and add what only you can add.
- No minimums, no reply deadlines, no exclusivity. You can pause whenever the season or the weather says so.
The sections below are the full terms. Where they differ from this summary, the full terms apply.
1. Who this is between
This agreement is between Reachwater, the operator of the Reachwater platform (“Reachwater”, “we”, “us”), and you, the guide or guiding business receiving trip requests through the platform (“you”).
It covers trip requests. Selling advice through Reachwater is a separate arrangement with its own terms, and you can do either, both, or neither.
2. What we send you
When an angler asks for a trip with you, we pass their request to the contact details on your listing. It arrives in their words, with the water they have in mind, roughly when they want to fish, how many of them there are, and how to reach them.
We tell them plainly that nothing is booked and that you are under no obligation to reply, so a request should not arrive carrying expectations you did not set.
3. We take no commission on your trips
A trip that comes to you through Reachwater costs you nothing. We do not take a percentage, a booking fee, a lead fee or a cut of your deposit, and we do not ask you to route the payment through us. The angler pays you, the way they always would have.
What we charge for is advice: Trip Plans and calls sold through the platform, under the separate advice agreement. If you never sell advice, Reachwater costs you nothing at all.
4. The booking is yours
If you take a trip, the agreement for it is between you and the angler. Your rate, your deposit, your cancellation policy, your weather calls: all yours, and none of them ours to set or to vary.
You are responsible for the licences, permits, accreditation, insurance and safety obligations that apply to guiding where you guide. We do not verify them and we do not hold them on your behalf.
5. Your listing
Reachwater compiles a public directory of guiding businesses from publicly available information. Your listing may have been created that way, without you being asked, which is how directories work and why every unclaimed listing says so on its face.
Claiming your listing confirms it is yours. From then on the intro, the species, the season notes and the photo are yours to supply and yours to change, and we render what you give us rather than what we guessed. Photos are only ever supplied by you: we do not take images from your website or your social accounts.
What we derive
Some fields, such as the fishing type, the water and the species tags, are our inference from public information rather than something you told us. Those are the ones most likely to be wrong, and correcting them is the fastest thing we do. Ask and we will fix it.
6. Replying is up to you
There is no reply deadline and no service level, because you fish for a living, you are busiest in the season anglers most want you, and you are often out of reception. We will not publish a turnaround promise on your behalf or hold you to one we invented.
Ignoring a request is a legitimate answer. Telling us you are booked out is a more useful one, and we will stop sending them until you say otherwise.
7. You are independent
Nothing here makes you an employee, a partner, a franchisee or an agent of Reachwater, or us an agent of yours. You run your own business, keep your own clients, and set your own prices. You are responsible for your own tax, superannuation and business registrations.
You are free to list with any other directory, platform or booking service. We do not ask for exclusivity in any region and we do not sell placement: nothing in the directory is pay-to-rank.
8. Anglers' information
A request carries an angler's contact details so you can answer it. Use them for that. Do not add them to a mailing list they did not ask for, and do not pass them on to anyone else.
9. Pausing, and coming off
Tell us to pause your listing and we will stop sending you requests and stop showing you as open, keeping the record accurate for when you come back. If you would rather not be listed at all, tell us and we will take the listing down.
We may also remove a listing ourselves: where a business has closed, where the record turns out to be wrong in a way we cannot fix, or where a guide treats anglers badly.
10. Liability
To the extent the law allows, Reachwater is not liable for trips you run, for anglers who do not turn up, or for anything that happens on the water. Nothing in this section limits any rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law, the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act, or other laws that cannot be excluded.
11. Changes to these terms
These terms may change as Reachwater grows. We will give you reasonable notice of anything material and tell you before it takes effect. If you keep taking requests after a change, that is your acceptance of the updated terms.
12. The law that applies
These terms are governed by the law of the Australian state or territory in which Reachwater operates, and the courts there have jurisdiction. If you guide in New Zealand, nothing here removes the protections New Zealand law gives you.
13. Talk to us
If anything here is unclear, or your listing is wrong, get in touch through the Reachwater website. We would rather sort it out than leave you guessing.
